18 Weeks

I had my 18 week checkup yesterday with Dr. Taylor. My blood pressure was 96/58, the penta screen test results had the lowest probability possible (1 in 5000) on everything, and the baby's heartbeat sounded perfect! I was so glad to get good news. It is such a blessing!

I think that we have a name picked out, but I don't know if we're ready to share it. It seems so final when you tell everyone! Nick and I share the same taste in lots of things, but not names. It has been challenging for us to agree on a name! I say one, he says no. He says one, I say no. Repeat.

Last Week

Last week was a sad and crazy week. My grandfather passed away Sunday, we went to work on Monday, flew to NC Tuesday, had visitation Wednesday, the funeral was Thursday, spent some time with my family Friday, and flew home Saturday.
It is always nerve racking to travel with a child, but Presley was WONDERFUL. People that had the luck to sit by the dreaded 4 year old on the plane even told me that she was the best kid they had ever sat by. It was really a blessing. I should add that being able to download TV shows on iPads is also a blessing!

My grandfather was such a unique person. He was buried in French cuffs with beautiful cuff links like he always wore, a pin from the Republican Presidential Task Force (his TV has the Fox News symbol burnt on the screen), and a copper coffin. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War, so an American flag was on his coffin before they presented it to my grandmother. I know he is in a better place than we are, and I know we will see each other again!

Easter 2012

This Easter has been so bittersweet for us. My grandfather passed away this morning.  He had been in the hospital for a couple of months following an emergency surgery. We knew that he had a long road of recovery ahead of him, but the complications that arose were too much for his body to overcome.  I am sure that someday the fact that he passed on Easter will be comforting to me, but today I am just sad that he is gone.

Presley had a great Easter. On Friday, she got two mini lop bunnies that Nana Raine went and picked up for me (Thanks Nana!). Their names are Peter and Cottontail. They are both male, and they are really sweet. I am basing that on the fact that they haven't bit Presley (the bunny strangler wrangler) yet.
Cottontail is on the left, and Peter on the right.

Isn't this a sweet picture of Presley choking holding Peter?

Presley wanted the bunnies to play in the playroom. She tried to entertain them with various toys, but they were occupied looking for an escape route.

I suggested they have TV time, and they were very thankful.

We stayed with Nick's family last night and went to their church this morning. We had lunch and an egg hunt after church, but I forgot my camera  :(  I hope that my MIL and SIL will send me some soon!

14 Week Checkup

Yesterday Presley and I headed to Little Rock for my monthly doctor appointment. The appointment was over within five minutes, but we heard the heartbeat and I talked to the ultrasound technician about getting a peak at the baby in the next couple of weeks :) I have to go back for a penta screen at 16 weeks, so the tech said we can come by and see the baby too! Today Presley got a surprise from my family! Thanks Nana Raine, Big Daddy, and Will!

My Little Girl

We went to the zoo last Tuesday, so I thought that it was ironic yesterday when I read about the zoo sending Mosi, the first gorilla born in the Little Rock, to Chicago. He is five, and he has been getting on his pregnant mother's nerves. I can empathize with that momma!

This four-year-old has been wearing me out! I love her more than words can say. I adore her.
She is busy. She is needy.  She whines. She cries at the drop of a dime to try to get her way. She likes to listen to the Chipmunks. She is overly dramatic.
She makes messes. Big ones, and she whines when I tell her to clean it up for the fifth time.
She makes me laugh. She makes me smile. She brings me joy. She makes me frustrated.
She wears high heels when she exercises. Ain't it beautiful?

Spring Break

Spring break finally came, and warm weather came with it! We have been spending our time outside. We have been fishing twice this week and we had fun at the zoo today!

This is a pic from one day last week. I mixed a drop of food coloring with a cup of water. I made red, blue, and yellow and gave Presley a bunch of empty cups. We made "potions" for the Easter Bunny. We mixed colors to see which new colors we could make. I thought it was a good way to teach Presley about mixing colors and gave her some practice pouring liquids. (It was also free and fun!)

Yes. We live in Arkansas. That is my child barefoot in a boat. She entertained herself by playing with jigs and sticking her feet in the water and eating cheetos.

Presley loves Karson's horse, Sunshine.

You really would think that we live on a farm. This girl loves wide open spaces, boots, and her camo hat.
Our fun day at the zoo.  I love how Presley always wants me to read all the signs. She doesn't like to look at any scary animals like snakes, spiders, or alligators. I swear she doesn't get that from me.
